Overview

Nursegrid is twice as valuable when you connect with colleagues! Connect with colleagues to:

  • Compare schedules.
  • Swap and give away shifts.
  • Message each other directly in the app.

This article will give you an overview of everything you need to know about colleagues.

Considerations

  • If you are a managed user, you will automatically be connected to any coworkers who are in your managed department once your account has been activated. Learn more about removing and blocking colleagues.

Connecting with Colleagues

A colleague is any Nursegrid user that you have connected with in the app. Your ability to engage with other Nursegrid users is determined by your relationship status:

  • Connected – When you accept a colleague request or your request is accepted by a nurse friend, you are now connected as colleagues. Connected colleagues can view your schedule, exchange swap/give away requests with you, and message you.
  • Suggested – From your Colleagues page, the Suggested tab will list other Nursegrid users you may know who share your worksite(s). Suggested users are not yet connected to you and therefore you cannot engage with each other.
  • Dismissed – Dismissed users will no longer be listed under the Suggested tab, but they can still search for your profile and send you a colleague request. You can dismiss suggested users by swiping left on their profile and tapping Dismiss on the mobile app (or clicking the red Dismiss button from the web version of Nursegrid).
  • Removed – You can remove a colleague you are already connected to at any time. A removed colleague will no longer be able to access your schedule, exchange swap/give away requests with you, or directly message you in the app. A removed colleague will still be able to search for your profile in the app and send you a colleague request. Removed colleagues will not be notified when you remove them.
  • Blocked – When you block another Nursegrid user, neither of you will be able to search for each other, send each other a colleague request, or view each other’s profile. Nursegrid users will not be notified when you block them.

Engaging with Colleagues

Once you have connected with a nurse friend as a colleague, you have unlocked all Nursegrid’s features:

  • View and Compare Schedules – Comparing schedules with your colleague will show your working schedule overlaid with theirs, allowing you to see when you are both working or have a day off. colleagues will not be able to see any of your personal events, meetings, or education events.
  • Message – Message your colleagues directly in the Nursegrid app.
  • Favorite – Favorite your colleagues to give you quick and easy access to specific colleagues’ schedules. This is useful for users with many colleagues. Favorites will be saved at the top of your Colleagues list.

Searching and Filtering Colleagues

The search bar at the top of the Colleagues page allows you to search for any public Nursegrid users.

  • By default, Colleagues and Favorites who match your search will appear at the top of the results, while other users will appear below.
  • Search results can be filtered to show all your colleagues or just colleagues who share specified worksites with you.
  • Search results will not include users who you have blocked, who have blocked you, or whose profiles are hidden.

Hidden Profiles

Nursegrid users have the option to hide their profile to prevent it from being located by other Nursegrid users.

Users with hidden profiles:

  • Will not show up in search results for any Nursegrid user.
  • Will still have their profile visible to their connected colleagues.
  • Will still be listed as a suggested colleague to other users who share their worksite(s).
  • Will have their schedule information hidden from connected colleagues.
  • Can send colleague requests to other Nursegrid users.
  • Can message with their colleagues.
