With 40,000+ Nurses Nationwide Using Nursegrid’s Scheduling Application, Nurse Managers Are Now Able To Directly Connect to Their Staff.

PORTLAND, Oregon – August 25, 2015 – Nursegrid announced today the release of a new communication platform designed to directly connect nurse managers with their staff to streamline communication, manage schedule changes and credentialing of staff. At the press of a button, the solution will help nurse managers and schedulers identify staff availability to fill holes in a nurse schedule commonly caused by sick calls or an increase in patient census. The platform is offered to hospitals as a monthly or annual subscription and requires no integration by the hospital.

“Having been in and around healthcare for the last 17 years, 11 of those as an RN, I have witnessed first hand how the inefficiencies around nurse scheduling, staffing, and communication negatively impact our healthcare system; from quality of care, to length of stay after admit, patient satisfaction, nurse burnout and retention—the list goes on,” said Joe Novello, RN and CEO of Nursegrid. “Today, nurse managers, schedulers, and supervisors rely on antiquated systems like phone trees or bulk text messages to fill staffing needs that arise from dynamic situations like high census or nurse sick calls. This process is very inefficient and results in missed opportunities that are frustrating for everyone involved. Our goal is to create tools that make it easy for nurse leaders to make smart decisions and act quickly to ensure that the right nurse is placed at the right time. Equally important, we consider the needs of all stakeholders to ensure that our products add as much value to nurses on the floor as they do to hospital leadership.”

This announcement comes six months after the launch of the company’s personal scheduling application for nurses. “We’re excited to be closing the loop between nurses and their managers,” said Andy Bartley, the company’s head of product. “We’ve spent thousands of hours talking with hundreds of nurses to get the product right. What nurses’ love most is that we use their feedback to drive the product direction so they get a tool that is truly designed to meet their needs. As a result, we’ve seen fast adoption of Nursegrid, nurses will use the app to schedule over 10 million nurse work hours this year.”

“On behalf of nurses, the Nursegrid team has quickly established themselves as a dominant force within the nurse community by spot-on delivering and exceeding the expectations of today’s nurses,” said Gary Abrahams, a Managing Director at Excelerate Health Ventures, the company’s lead investor. “Nursegrid has achieved viral adoption of their personal nurse application by thousands of nurse users nationwide. Nurses have unequivocally spoken and validated that Nursegrid is their personal scheduling solution of choice. Now with the release of Nursegrid for managers; hospital nurse managers, schedulers and nurses have a complete active communication network in place that can further enhance timely collaboration between nurses and management to drive key performance, quality and financial improvements for the hospital.”
