Meet the NurseGrid Team

Meet the NurseGrid Team

NurseGrid is an app made for nurses, by nurses. We are a group of individuals who have experienced the world of nursing firsthand, and thought to ourselves, "Why can't it be simpler?"

What does it take to quickly upload my shifts to all my electronics, swap shifts with my colleagues, and set reminders on the go all in one place?

Well, We Are Turning These Ideas into Reality

It is our first entry looking into the members of the NurseGrid team. We are an exciting mix, coming from all walks of life, but the one thing we share is that we love what we do.

Joe NovelloJoe Novello | Founder & CEO

Joe Novello is an active nurse with 17 years of clinical and healthcare leadership experience specializing in emergency and critical care.  As a nurse entrepreneur, Joe has started two healthcare companies, sits on three Boards and is active in the Portland & Bay Area entrepreneurship communities.  When not running businesses or codes, Joe can be found wake surfing the river, playing at the beach with his dog or traveling the world.

Zach SmithZach Smith | Director of Marketing

Zach Smith is an active nurse and budding entrepreneur. Having worked on hospitals units as a charge nurse and staff nurse, he has first-hand experience with many of the frustrations that nurses face today. In his past, Zach co-founded and ran a corporate video marketing company. Zach loves to travel around the world, try new foods, and take his two dogs to the dog park.

Thomas IwasakiThomas Iwasaki | Operations & Insights

Thomas is a recent business/finance graduate and entrepreneurial scholar from the University of Portland. He's lived in LA, Portland, Arizona, and Thailand (Portland is his favorite though).  Thomas was also a college and pro soccer player and is still always looking to play some footy.

Alex CalvertAlex Calvert | Marketing & Strategy

Alex is a recent marketing/entrepreneurship graduate from the University of Portland. Born in England, raised in Australia, and now in the Northwest, he is excited to be part of the NurseGrid team, bringing his previous experience that ranges from a sushi chef to assistant DJ. When he’s not hard at work, you can find him hanging around Portland at the comic store, archery range, or any place that serves sushi.
